Work will be taking place to remove a 30m length of steel sheet piles that failed during the severe flood events during the winter.
This will involve winching the failed sheets across the navigation and then lifting them by crane to remove them off site.
During this operation navigation staff will be stationed above and below the work site to restrict navigation during winching and lifting operations. These periods of closure should be short in nature.
Once the removal of the sheets has been completed work to drive new longer sheets will commence which on completion will allow the towpath through Guildford Town Centre to be reopened.
