02.10.2014 NOW OPEN – Emergency Closure – Newark Lock

18.24hrs The lock gate has been repaired and refitted and the lock is now open and fully operational.

The National Trust apologise for any inconvenience the emergency closure may have caused you.

12.46hrs A lock gate has been lifted out at Newark Lock and the lock is currently closed to boat passage.

Unidentified damage to the bottom of the gate, tampin or tampin box is creating difficulty refitting the gate and opening the lock. It is not possible at this time to specify when the problem will be resolved and it may take some considerable time before the lock can be reopened.

The Maintenance Team are on site dealing with the situation and the lock will be reopened as soon as it safe to do so.

Notification of the reopening of the lock will be posted on this website when it happens.
